Which terms suit you?
Choose a bonus that fits the deposit you already planned, rather than spending more to reach its headline cap. You'll need to check which games count, how much you must play through and what you can withdraw. We'd skip a bigger offer if its rules don't suit your budget.
Look at the whole deal before you opt in. A larger match or package can bring more required turnover, more deposits and tighter restrictions. Choosing ordinary play without a bonus, or choosing not to play, remains a valid decision.
The examples below explain the maths and don’t predict returns.
Springbok changes its bonuses often. See what's on right now on its promotions page.
Read the Springbok review for banking and licensing information. Visit the operator. CasinoMenu may earn referral commission. Check whether your account qualifies before you claim.
Identify which kind of bonus is being offered
A welcome bonus is associated with joining or making an initial qualifying deposit. It may consist of one match, a sequence of matches, free spins or a combination. A reload offer relates to a later deposit.
The label describes the occasion, not the quality of the terms. Two welcome offers can have very different wagering bases and withdrawal restrictions.
A no-deposit bonus supplies promotional credit or spins without an initial payment to activate the particular offer. That doesn’t make its balance immediately withdrawable. Read the no-deposit bonus guide for the distinction between activation, wagering and withdrawal.
An offer requiring a deposit to claim its spins belongs in a deposit-based comparison even if the spins themselves are called free.
Cashback needs special attention because the word can describe different things. Check which losses or deposits form its base, whether there is a cap, how often it can be requested and whether the reward is cash or a bonus with further wagering. A cashback headline should never be interpreted as insurance against losing your entire deposit.
Check whether other promotions make that deposit ineligible.
Loyalty points and tournament prizes have their own rules. A points balance may require a minimum redemption amount and convert to promotional credit. A tournament may have entry costs, rebuys, ranking rules and restrictions on prize withdrawals.
Don’t add these rewards to a welcome-package total unless the operator explicitly includes them and the same player can qualify for all components.
Calculate a deposit match before considering the cap
A percentage match multiplies the qualifying deposit by the stated rate, subject to a maximum bonus. The cap is the most bonus credit available under that stage, not necessarily the smallest amount worth depositing. Begin with the amount you had independently decided you could afford to lose.
Don’t work backwards from the promotional ceiling to justify a larger deposit.
Illustrative example, not a live offer: a 50% match capped at R500 adds R100 to a R200 qualifying deposit. A R1,000 deposit would reach the R500 cap. A R1,500 deposit would still receive no more than R500 if that cap applies.
These calculations explain the match, not whether any of those deposits would be sensible or whether the funds could be withdrawn.
The qualifying minimum is different from the cap and from the payment method's minimum. A cashier might accept a smaller payment than a coupon requires, or a particular payment method might require more than the coupon minimum. Both conditions need to be met.
If an operator's promotion doesn’t specify a minimum, don’t borrow one from another casino or assume that the banking minimum is sufficient.
Multi-deposit packages should be split into stages. Record each percentage, cap, coupon and sequence rule separately. Identify whether a skipped stage affects later eligibility and whether the later matches expire after registration or after the first deposit.
A package total is the sum of potential bonus caps, not the amount received on the first payment.
Don’t treat later stages as a commitment. After one stage, reassess whether further play fits the original budget and time limit. The possibility of leaving part of a package unused isn’t a loss that needs recovering.
A promotion is an optional condition of play, not an instalment plan that you’re obliged to complete.
Compare wagering bases, not isolated multipliers
Wagering requirements measure qualifying stakes. They don’t describe a guaranteed return, a required additional deposit or a predictable loss. The same money may be staked more than once as rounds resolve, but the balance may also run out before the target is reached.
An offer with a lower multiplier can still require more turnover if its base is larger.
Illustrative comparison: take a R300 deposit and a R300 bonus. At 30 times the bonus alone, the requirement is R9,000. At 30 times deposit plus bonus, it becomes R18,000.
A third offer at 40 times bonus alone would require R12,000. This shows why “30×” can’t automatically be ranked ahead of “40×” without reading the base.
Next check contribution rates. A qualifying stake might count in full, in part or not at all. The same game category can be treated differently under different coupons.
A general casino games list shows what can be played, not what is eligible for promotional wagering. Find the offer's specific game rules rather than relying on the lobby or a provider's name.
Illustrative contribution calculation: if a permitted game counts 10%, a R20 stake adds R2 to the wagering total. To reach a R1,000 qualifying target at that rate would require R10,000 in stakes. This is an explanation of the accounting, not a plan for completing a bonus.
More rounds also mean more exposure to losing the available balance.
Excluded games can be more serious than zero contribution. The terms may prohibit play on them while the bonus is active and allow funds to be voided. Check optional game features, side bets, feature purchases and linked jackpots as well as the main game.
If you can’t determine whether a feature is permitted, ask support before you use it.
Find the conditions that can change the outcome
A maximum bonus bet restricts how much can be staked while the offer applies. Check whether the limit refers to a round, a line, a total game action or combined positions. A feature purchase can cost more than its displayed base stake.
Don’t assume an automated game control will enforce every promotional limit for you.
A maximum cashout limits the eligible withdrawal even when wagering has been completed. Identify whether it is a fixed amount, a multiple of the bonus or a multiple of the deposit. Check whether the original bonus is removed and whether the cap affects money you deposited separately.
Without those details, comparing two withdrawal ceilings is unreliable.
Expiry can attach to several events. The invitation might expire before the coupon is claimed, spins might expire after activation and wagering might need to finish within another period. Record each deadline and timezone separately.
If you can’t see a deadline, ask for it before you claim. A short deadline isn’t a reason to play longer than intended.
Payment exclusions can make an otherwise eligible deposit fail to qualify. Check the exact payment product, account ownership requirements and currency treatment. Don’t assume that one wallet brand's availability in the cashier means every promotion accepts it.
Ask before paying, since a coupon may need to be entered before the deposit and may not be credited retrospectively.
Account restrictions can include new-customer status, one offer per household, direct-recipient invitations, existing balances and pending withdrawals. Multiple email addresses don’t necessarily create multiple eligible customers. Never attempt to bypass restrictions by changing identity or location details.
The practical question is whether the offer applies to your actual account as it stands.
Decide whether to accept, decline or ask for clarification
Acceptance should be an explicit decision made before the relevant payment or play. Read how the operator records consent: a coupon, an opt-in box or an account message may activate conditions. Check whether the default deposit journey automatically selects a promotion.
If you want to decline, confirm that the deposit will remain outside the bonus rules before proceeding.
Cancellation rules deserve a separate check. Removing a bonus can also remove winnings or affect a combined balance. Don’t assume you can accept, try it briefly and then restore the exact position you had before acceptance.
Ask what happens to deposited funds and derived winnings, and keep the answer alongside the terms that applied at the time.
If two official pages disagree, compare their dates and scope. One may describe a specific coupon while another sets default rules. A later page doesn’t necessarily override an account-specific offer unless the relationship is clear.
Preserve both versions and seek clarification. Choosing whichever figure looks more generous isn’t a sound basis for making a deposit.
Consider practical usability as well as arithmetic. Can you find the active wagering balance, see the permitted games and save the conditions on your phone? Is the withdrawal route described clearly?
A mathematically smaller requirement is of limited use if the account doesn’t explain how it is measured or which funds it governs.
How do you compare two offers?
| Question | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| What must I pay? | Qualifying deposit, method and stage | Separates your spending from promotional credit |
| What is added? | Percentage, cap, spins and per-spin value | Prevents package totals being mistaken for one reward |
| What must I wager? | Multiplier, base and contributions | Defines qualifying turnover |
| What can I withdraw? | Cap, bonus removal and payment minimum | Distinguishes account balance from eligible cash |
| Who qualifies? | Market, account, household and payment rules | Avoids comparing an unavailable offer |
| When does it end? | Activation and completion deadlines | Shows whether the timing fits your limits |
If you can't find a fee or wagering rule, ask support before you accept. Don't treat a missing fee as zero or assume there's no playthrough just because the headline doesn't mention one. You don't need to rank two offers when neither explains what you'll pay or be able to withdraw.
Leave them unclaimed until you have a clear answer.
Keep a copy of the official offer and terms with the date of your check. A screenshot of the headline alone is less useful than the complete conditions. Record the stable coupon or promotion name, because a casino can run several campaigns at once.
The terms linked from a general homepage may not describe the campaign shown inside your account.
Banking and legal checks remain separate
A bonus doesn’t show that a casino is authorised to provide a particular service in South Africa. Rand balances, local payment branding and an offshore licence claim are not substitutes for checking the exact operator and product. Consult the National Gambling Board's guidance and resolve licensing questions before considering a promotion.
Likewise, bonus completion doesn’t bypass identity checks or guarantee payment speed. Separate the operator's approval period from the payment provider's settlement period. Find out whether the selected deposit method can receive withdrawals, what documents are requested and whether ownership details must match.
Our banking guide provides a starting point for those questions.
If a payment dispute occurs, keep transaction references and a concise sequence of events. Ask the operator which published condition explains the delay or refusal. Don’t send sensitive documents to CasinoMenu or another comparison publisher.
An advertised complaint route should be checked for its actual jurisdiction rather than assumed to cover every offshore account.
Keep the decision inside your limits
Set a spending and time limit before looking at offers. A larger bonus can create pressure to complete more wagering or make additional deposits. Neither a package nor an unfinished target creates a duty to continue.
Stop when your limit is reached, even if a promotional balance remains.
Bonuses are not income and cashback isn’t a recovery strategy. If gambling is affecting finances, relationships or wellbeing, decline further promotions and seek support. Use the responsible-gambling resource and the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation.
This guide is for adults aged 18 and over and doesn’t encourage borrowing or chasing losses.
Record changes without losing the original terms
If a promotion changes after you read it, keep the original and updated versions separate. Note when you accepted, which coupon was applied and which balance was affected. An updated public page might describe future customers rather than your existing bonus.
Ask the operator to identify the version governing your account instead of assuming that the latest headline replaces every earlier agreement.
Keep the offer's actual terms beside your own calculation. Use your planned deposit to work out the bonus, then check it against the cap. Put questions about deadlines or withdrawals alongside that sum.
If an answer changes the amount you can claim or the time you have, redo the comparison before you pay.
Bonus comparison questions
Is the largest welcome package the best offer?
Not necessarily. Separate the deposit stages, qualifying payments, wagering bases and withdrawal limits. A larger total may require more spending decisions and may not suit your budget or preferred games.
Does a lower wagering multiplier always help?
Compare the base and game contributions first. A lower multiplier applied to deposit plus bonus can create more qualifying turnover than a higher multiplier applied only to bonus funds.
Can I combine two coupons?
Only if the applicable terms explicitly allow it. Existing-balance and one-promotion restrictions may prevent overlap. A successful code entry alone doesn’t settle every account restriction.
Are no-wagering offers unrestricted?
No wagering would describe one condition only. Eligibility, expiry, game restrictions, identity checks and withdrawal limits can still apply. Don’t infer missing conditions from a marketing label.
Why are some values unknown?
Ask the casino to explain any missing minimum, expiry or cashout cap before you accept. You shouldn't have to guess how much to deposit or when your bonus ends. Keep the answer with your coupon terms so you can refer to it later.
