Start with the casino list if you're choosing an operator, or pick a guide below if you have a banking, bonus or game question. We'd read the money rules before spending time on the lobby.
Where should you start?
You'll find casino reviews, comparisons and guides to bonuses, banking and games here. Choose the question you need answered first. If you're unsure how withdrawals work, a payment guide is a better starting point than a page of welcome offers.
Keep the casino's terms open alongside the guide you're reading. Use the guide to work out what to ask, then look for the answer in the terms for your account. Save anything important before you decide whether to join.
The main routes
The online casinos page is the main list. The best online casinos and new online casinos pages explain how we choose which operators to feature, and the casino reviews hub explains how to read a review.
For specific needs, use the hubs on real money casinos, Bitcoin casinos, live dealer casinos and no-download casinos. Choose the topic that matches how you want to play, then use its questions to compare your options.
How reviews and hubs differ
A review covers one operator: its terms, its payment methods, its bonus conditions and the checks you'll need before a withdrawal. A hub covers a topic that cuts across operators, such as how live dealer tables work or what a wagering requirement costs. Read a hub to learn how to judge a casino, then read a review to see how one casino measures up.
Where a casino has an affiliate link, a button may take you to it, and we may earn a commission. That does not change what a review says. Operators that are not currently accepting South African players, or whose status we cannot confirm, are not presented as available.
Choosing an operator
Before you register, find out who runs the casino, which regulator licensed it and whether South African residents are accepted. Check the payment methods you want to use and the withdrawal conditions. Read the bonus terms for the total stake required. Look for a way to set deposit limits and to self-exclude.
If you cannot find a licence, a company name or a contact route, treat that as a warning. A polished site proves nothing. Keep your own record of what you were promised and when.
Support matters as much as the lobby. Before depositing, look for a contact route that names a real channel, and note how long replies are said to take. A casino that makes it hard to ask a question before you pay is unlikely to make it easier afterwards. Where verification is required, expect to provide identity and address documents before a first withdrawal, and gather them in advance so that a payout is not delayed.
A worked example in rand
Here's a hypothetical example, not a casino offer. Suppose you have R1,000 a month for entertainment and you are comparing two casinos. One offers a bonus with 30 times wagering on deposit plus bonus, the other offers no bonus. A R500 deposit with a 100% bonus requires R30,000 of staking before release, while the same R500 without a bonus has no bonus play-through requirement, though the casino's withdrawal terms still apply.
The bonus is not automatically better. It gives you more to play with but locks the funds until the requirement is met. The right choice depends on how you want to play and on whether you accept the terms.
The legal position and responsible play
The National Gambling Board's FAQ states that online gambling is not legal in South Africa unless authorised under the National Gambling Act or another national law, and that betting with a licensed South African bookmaker is lawful. That is why we describe the status of each operator carefully and why you should check a licence yourself.
If gambling stops being fun, the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation helpline is 0800 006 008 (the number the National Gambling Board publishes), and our responsible gambling page explains how to set limits and self-exclude.
Frequently asked questions
Does CasinoMenu rank online casinos?
We feature operators and explain our reasons, but we do not publish ratings that are not supported by data, and we do not rank operators whose status we cannot confirm.
How should I compare welcome bonuses?
Look beyond the headline amount. Compare the deposit needed, play-through rules, allowed games and withdrawal limits. If you don't want those conditions, check the option to play without a bonus.
Which page should I read first?
Start with the online casinos page for the list, then the hub that matches your need.
Are all listed casinos open to South Africans?
No. Check the review's account-status note before following an old casino link. A closed casino's review can still help you understand what happened to it.
What should you save before you decide?
Keep the page address and the terms that answer your main question. For a payment, that means the amount, currency and route. For a game or draw, keep the name and rules so you don't compare it with a different version later.
Write down anything you still need to ask support. A precise question is easier to answer than asking whether a site is good: can you use your chosen withdrawal method, which documents will you need, and where can you read the conditions?
If the answer sends you to another page, open it and check that it answers your question. You don't need to deposit to finish reading. We'd wait if the payment or account rules remain unclear.
Finally, decide what you can afford to spend before accepting an offer or joining a game. Keep money for bills separate, and don't increase your budget just because a promotion asks for a bigger deposit. Walking away is always an option.
