Casino banking: Compare deposits and payouts

Choose your payout route before you choose how to deposit. We'd compare the minimum withdrawal, fees and account checks first, then look at deposit speed. The tables below help you work out which method fits the amount you plan to spend and the bank account or wallet you already use.

How to read a banking page

A casino banking page is a marketing page and a policy page at once. The first lines usually describe how safe and easy payments are.

The useful content is the table underneath: a method name, a minimum deposit, a deposit time, a withdrawal time or minimum, and sometimes a fee. Read that table, then check four things. Does the method pay out, or is it deposit only?

Is the minimum the same for new and returning players? Is a fee charged, and by whom? And what has to be checked before the first withdrawal?

Look beyond the payment logo. You need a route you can use in your own name, with costs you understand and a withdrawal minimum that fits your budget. Keep your bank's controls switched on and don't use another person's account to get around a declined payment.

The figures below are dated 2 November 2026. Check the cashier for the terms that apply to your account before you send money.

The table shows that the same method can look very different at different casinos. Bitcoin withdrawals are free and described as instant by Thunderbolt once an account is checked, but carry a R300 fee at Midas and a 48 to 72 hour window at Springbok.

These casinos describe card deposits as instant, but you’ll need to check the payout route. The only way to compare methods fairly is to compare them operator by operator.

Cards

Visa and Mastercard are the most familiar methods, and the three operators all accept them for deposits. The catch is the payout side.

Thunderbolt states that card withdrawal isn’t possible. Springbok publishes no card withdrawal row, and its terms say withdrawals typically go back to the original deposit method at the casino’s discretion. Midas shows a withdrawal minimum beside Visa without clearly describing a card payout, and states that where a deposit method can’t be paid out, funds go by bank wire.

Your own bank also has a say. In October 2024, Eyewitness News reported that Nedbank blocks credit and debit cards from online gambling outside South Africa and that FNB blocks international gambling transactions across its card base, while Absa, Standard Bank and Capitec said they had no such tools at the time.

Ask your bank about its current rules. Read our credit card guide and debit card guide before choosing this route, especially the sections on declines, name matching and borrowed money.

Instant EFT services

Instant EFT services let you pay from your bank account through a redirect to your bank’s login, without entering card details. Springbok lists BetterEFT and InstantEFT with minimums of R51 and R71, and Thunderbolt lists BetterEFT with a R57 minimum.

Compare those minimums with your planned budget. They are, however, mainly deposit routes. Springbok gives a 48 to 72 hour withdrawal time for both, while Thunderbolt lists no BetterEFT withdrawal.

Keep the payment names separate when you compare terms. Our SiD Secure EFT and EasyEFT guides explain what to check before paying.

Springbok shows an EasyEFT footer logo but lists BetterEFT and InstantEFT in its banking rows. Midas lists EasyEFT deposits with bank-transfer withdrawals. Ask the cashier which service handles your payment; don’t assume these names mean the same thing.

An instant EFT deposit still depends on your bank’s own authentication and limits. If the payment is debited but not credited, keep the reference and contact support before trying again.

Bank wire and standard EFT

A bank wire or standard EFT can take longer, but it’s often the route you’ll use to receive winnings. Thunderbolt describes EFT withdrawals as free, at R500 to R25,000 per week, with a processing timeframe of one to ten business days.

Springbok lists a wire withdrawal minimum of R500 with processing of up to two business days. Midas lists a bank wire minimum of R1,000 with a R100 fee, deducted from your balance when the request is made.

The ranges show why it matters to separate casino processing from bank settlement. A casino can release a withdrawal on its side and the receiving bank still needs time to credit it, with business-day cut-offs.

Weekends and public holidays add delay. Treat any published window as the casino’s own estimate; allow time for your bank too.

If your deposit method can’t pay out, ask about a bank transfer to an account in your own name. Springbok’s terms say withdrawals are only permitted to accounts owned and controlled by the registered player.

E-wallets

With an e-wallet, you fund a separate account from your card or bank, then send money to the casino. Springbok lists Payz with a R10 minimum deposit and R500 minimum withdrawal.

Midas lists ecoPayz with R200 and R1,000. Springbok's link text still says EcoPayz, so check which service the cashier opens and read its account terms before signing up. Don't fund a wallet until you've checked that you can withdraw from it to your own bank.

Wallets add a second set of terms, fees and document requirements, because the wallet provider has its own rules. NETELLER’s published wallet rules, for example, are covered separately in our NETELLER guide, which helps you check country access and payment rules. Check the wallet’s country support and fees, not only the casino’s page.

The benefit of a wallet is separation: your bank details are not shared with the casino. The cost is an extra step and an extra place where money can sit and be charged fees.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

Crypto is the most variable method. Thunderbolt lists Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Lightning Bitcoin and Litecoin deposits, with minimums from R25 for Lightning up to R250 for Bitcoin and Ether, but only the Bitcoin row lists a withdrawal.

Springbok lists Bitcoin with a R250 deposit and R500 withdrawal minimum. Midas lists Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin with R200 minimum deposits and a R300 fee on each withdrawal.

Crypto payments are generally irreversible, so a wrong address or a wrong network can’t be recalled. The price can also move between the time you convert rand and the time the casino credits your account, even if the operator states amounts in rand.

Our Bitcoin guide covers these risks in detail. Use only the deposit address shown in your logged-in cashier and send a small test amount first if the operator allows it.

Fast crypto payouts are still subject to casino account checks. Thunderbolt’s instant Bitcoin processing is stated as applying once an account is checked.

Withdrawal limits, timing and account checks

Withdrawal caps matter once you win. Thunderbolt publishes R25,000 per week and R100,000 per month, and says VIP players can request more.

Springbok’s terms state a weekly maximum of R25,000 and reserve the right to change it. Ask Midas about the cap for your account. If you win a large sum, a weekly limit can mean payment in instalments.

Your account checks come before a payout. Springbok’s terms say all withdrawals are subject to account checks of identity, address and deposit methods, and that if documents are not sent within four weeks the account may be locked and winnings voided.

Springbok also says deposits must be wagered at least once before a withdrawal request is accepted. The practical steps are to finish your account checks before requesting a payout, use documents in your own name and upload them only through the secure area of your account.

Timing figures rarely include account checks or pending periods. A published 48 to 72 hours describes processing, not the whole journey from request to your bank.

Fees and currency

Fees appear in different places. A casino may charge a withdrawal fee, as Midas does for wire and crypto. A payment provider may charge its own fee.

Your bank may charge you too. Thunderbolt describes EFT and Bitcoin withdrawals as zero-fee, and Springbok states that BetterEFT is free to the player but that standard bank fees may apply. The absence of a casino fee never means no cost at all.

Look at the minimum withdrawal as well as the fee. A R100 fee on a R1,000 minimum takes ten per cent of the smallest payout; a R300 fee on the same amount takes thirty.

That's a sizeable slice of your money before any bank charges. Springbok and Thunderbolt describe rand accounts, which avoid currency conversion. If you're paid in another currency, check the bank or provider's conversion rate too.

Choosing a method

Start from the payout, not the deposit. Pick the way you want to receive money, confirm the operator supports it and then choose a funding method that fits. A simple order of questions works.

Can I withdraw with this method? What is the minimum and the fee? How long is the stated window?

Is it in my name? What limit do I want in place? If an answer is missing from the banking page, ask support in writing before depositing.

Keep each deposit and withdrawal reference with the amount, date and account used. If a payment goes missing, you can give support or your bank those details straight away. Compare the casino's status with your bank statement before sending a second payment, so you don't accidentally pay twice.

Finally, don’t choose a method because it makes depositing easier. Ease of payment is a risk factor for overspending, not a benefit to chase. See our banking overview and bonus guides for how payment methods can also affect which offers apply.

Legal status and responsible play

A working payment method doesn’t make a casino lawful in South Africa. The National Gambling Board’s FAQ says online gambling isn’t legal under section 11 of the National Gambling Act unless authorised, that online betting with a licensed South African bookmaker is legal, and that South Africans can’t gamble with international companies from within the Republic. We make no claim that any operator listed here holds a South African licence, and the decision to play is yours after reading the law and the terms.

Gambling is entertainment with a negative expected return. It isn’t income or a way out of debt.

Set a budget you can lose, use deposit limits and stop if you’re depositing to recover losses. See our responsible gambling page for support and self-exclusion. You must be 18 or older.

Frequently asked questions

Which banking method is fastest?

Most deposit methods in the table are described as instant. For withdrawals, Thunderbolt describes Bitcoin as instant once an account is checked, while Springbok gives 48 to 72 hours for several methods. Account checks can add time.

Which method has the lowest minimum?

In this comparison, Payz at R10 on Springbok and Lightning Bitcoin at R25 on Thunderbolt, then BetterEFT at R51 to R57. Minimums vary by operator and can change.

Can I use the same method to deposit and withdraw?

Not always. Don’t assume your card can receive a payout. Check the withdrawal rows before depositing.

Are casino banking methods safe?

A method being listed isn’t a safety guarantee. Look at the operator’s account checks, your bank’s controls and your own limits. We don’t rate safety from a payment logo.

What documents will I need?

Springbok lists proof of identity, address and deposit method. Provide documents in your own name through the secure upload in your account.

Why is my withdrawal pending?

Common reasons are account checks, a weekly limit, a business-day cut-off or the bank’s own processing. Ask support for the stage the request has reached.
